Arizona Trip - January
2004
|
| Many of you
may already know what to look for when detecting AZ and I am
no expert by any means. There are way more folks who know AZ
better than I and they are the real experts, but since there
is no photos on here to show from them to show you? I
thought I would try and help show photos of the spots that I
look for and when you get down there maybe this could help.
This picture is pretty easy to figure out. The exposed
bedrock is a great catcher of gold nuggets. But notice the
small piles of rocks to the side. They were thrown up on the
banks by the old times.

This photo
shows many piles of dry wash tailing and some piles have
rock, others are gravel and then the very fine piles. When
you see this, you know there was good gold in the area or
they would not have spent so much time there.

| This is a
shot that was back from the bed rock (photo#1)but it is the
same spot from a distance. Not ice the piles of rocks and
gravels on the flats (means good gold it if there is plenty
of workings) then it all comes together in different draws
into one and that was wear the bedrock was found.

| Below is
some of the nuggets that I found at this site using a
Minelab GP-3000 in about 3 hours. This was one of our better
areas as for the most pieces of gold but they were smaller
ones. I ended up with 11 nuggets in about 5 hours of
detecting. My total weight of gold at this site was 4.5
grams. I hope you enjoyed the photos and info. Good Luck,
Gerry from Idaho

Here is a
photo of the 11 nuggets that I found in the short time we
were there. Minelab GP-3000 with a NF-17" elliptical coil
did the trick. Good Luck, Gerry from Idaho
